NBA Western Conference Rankings 2018-2019 Season

Check out my Eastern Conference Rankings if you missed it. Lottery bound 15 - Sacramento Kings The Kings are slowly getting some young assets to build a fun team with guys like Marvin Bagley, Buddy Hield, Willie Cauley-Stein and DeAaron Fox. Also add in a guy like Zach Randolph, and there should be some entertaining games. This conference is too loaded for a team with some prospects to gain any relevance. 14 - Phoenix Suns Similar situation to the Kings, but the prospects are simply better. Many people are projecting Devin Booker to make an all-star leap, and DeAndre Ayton will battle Trae Young, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Luka Doncic for rookie of the year. I actually wanted Bridges to be drafted by the Knicks (I love Knox, but didn't know I did at the time). Bridges is going to be a 3-and-D guy throughout his career, and who's to say he can't be that guy his rookie season? Ariza should add some veteran leadership as well, but again, the West is simply too good for this team to

Check out my Western Conference Rankings if you missed it.  Lottery Bound 15 - Atlanta Hawks The Hawks could have drafted Luka Doncic, but instead traded down for Trae Young. Young might prove to be a good NBA player with his limitless range and great passing, but Doncic seems to be on another level; only time will tell. Regardless of how Young performs, this team is lottery bound and will be fighting for a number one draft pick. Lottery bound, whether intentional or not 14 - New York Knicks The Knicks had one of their best drafts in a while, and a "culture change" (whatever that means) after hiring Fizdale as their head coach. Apologies to all optimistic Knicks fans out there, but a guy by the name of Kristaps Porzingis tore his ACL. This Knicks team will be led by Enes Kanter and Tim Hardaway Jr. God help us. Clyde, the smartest basketball mind of all-time, had this to say: “The reality is without KP, man, we’re going nowhere. Without Porzingis, he’s our future. The worst t

Will Enes Kanter Have a Career Year on the Knicks?

With Porzingis projected to be out for a large chunk of this upcoming season, it seems that the Knicks are in for another long year. Even with great draft selections between Kevin Knox and Mitchell Robinson, plus a new "culture" under Coach Fizdale, there doesn't seem to be enough talent to have a competitive basketball team this season. "The reality is without KP, man, we're going nowhere," Walt Clyde Frazier told Sirius XM this week. "Without Porzingis, he's our future. The worst thing that could have happened to the Knicks did happen. This guy blew his knee out mid season. Supposedly he's coming back in January, but who knows. If the Knicks don't get him back to his former grandeur things are looking pretty bleak for them." With Porzingis out, let's see a breakout of the rest of the Knicks 2018-19 squad: It's funny to say, but on paper the Knicks most valuable players are Enes Kanter and Joakim Noah. It will be interesting to

Is Frank Ntilikina a BUST?

Image
In the 2017 NBA Draft, the Knicks were desperate for a point guard of the future. I was beyond excited when the Knicks chose Frank Ntilikina, a 6'5" 18-year-old with a 7-foot wingspan. Looking at his highlights prior to the season, I said this: "I know that Frank Ntilikina is listed as a point guard. I’ve seen highlights of him and I don’t think he has an NBA handle… yet. He’s not even 19-years-old yet, so hopefully the Knicks can keep him long enough to inevitably trade him for Jerian Grant. All kidding aside I think he is going to be a great defender and I support the pick. He is just not a NBA point guard yet." In 20 minutes a game, the precocious neophyte (Clyde term) is averaging 5.6 points and 3 assists, shooting 36% from the field and 31% from three.  When compared to Dennis Smith Jr.'s 15 points and 5 assists shooting 39% from the field and 30% from three , some Knicks fans are already writing Ntilikina off as a bust. I'm not going to waste my time co

Are the Pelicans Better WITHOUT DeMarcus Cousins?

Image
In 48 games of the 2017-2018 NBA Season, DeMarcus Cousins was averaging 25 points, 13 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.6 blocks. In late January, Pelicans fans held their breath when they saw one of their two Franchise superstars go down with an achilles injury. DeMarcus Cousins was having a career year before this injury, but the Pelicans were only slightly above .500 with a Davis/Cousins tandem down low. Before this devastating injury, the Pelicans seemed to be a legitimate playoff contender as a 6 seed, but since Cousins' absence, they are now the 4 seed in a crazy competitive Western Conference. It's a small sample size, but don't be surprised if you start seeing headlines saying that DeMarcus Cousins is a cancer and that the Pelicans are better without him. Regardless of where the Pelicans finish this season, they need to do everything in their power to keep Cousins on the roster and paired up with the 'Brow. What makes their front court so lethal is how the

How Mudiay can HELP PORZINGIS LONG TERM and why the rise of Jokic was the WORST thing that happened to Mudiay

In the 2015 NBA Draft, I was sitting with some of my fellow Knicks fans as we were awaiting the announcement of the 4th overall pick. I was chanting "Winslow!" others were chanting "Mudiay", it didn't matter who it was... All that mattered was that the Knicks finally got a good draft pick and were going to get a good player. Instead they got... Naturally, we were pissed. Some of us were literally swearing at the TV. I personally said: "Phil Jackson obviously drafted Porzingis to trade him for a veteran point guard to help Melo." With Andrea Bargnani still fresh in our minds, we couldn't help but be delusional and afraid about the Knicks betting their future on a perimeter focused European big man. Fast forward to 2018, and every Knicks fan shed a tear when Porzingis tore his ACL... off what should have been an iconic dunk on the Greek Freak. With Porzingis out indefinitely, the Knicks traded Dougie Mcbuckets for a player Knicks fans initially wante
